Ever since the phenomenon of drug addicts living on the streets sprung up when both drugs and living on the streets were legalized, they’ve referred to these individuals as “homeless people.”
It wasn’t necessarily inaccurate, but it was a term that used to refer to mentally ill people who were released from mental hospitals in the 1970s and who lived under bridges while eating out of the trash. Most of these people were not drug users, nor did they choose to live on the streets.
Now, however, we have a hipper and even more politically correct term for the hordes of homeless drug addicts: “unhoused people.”
You can already hear the politicians and pundits:
“It’s time to house the unhoused!”
Frankly, I’m of the opinion that junkies should be shot.
