Jacinda Ardern has won a historic victory in the 2020 election, with Labour on track to form the first majority government in the MMP era.
With 98 per cent of the vote counted, Labour looks set to win 49 per cent of the party vote, giving the party 64 seats in Parliament.
Celebrating her victory in the Auckland Town Hall, Ardern acknowledged her history-making win.
“Tonight, New Zealand has shown the Labour Party its greatest support in at least 50 years,” she said.
“Tonight’s result has been strong and it is clear that Labour will lead the Government for the next three years,” she said.
Ardern repeated her campaign pledge to “build back better” from Covid-19.
Earlier in the night, National leader Judith Collins congratulated Labour and Jacinda Ardern for the election victory, vowing to be a “robust Opposition”.
Collins, who said she would be staying on as National leader, conceded in a speech in Auckland, saying National “will be back”.
Jacinda Ardern did the single most aggressive coronavirus lockdown on the planet and completely destroyed the country’s economy and social order in the process. However, the fact is, if she hadn’t done this, then dozens more octogenarians in nursing homes might have died.
There is no price that isn’t worth paying to save people in their 80s and 90s from dying of the flu. Even if the entire society is destroyed, and you end up with mass suicides and drug overdoses, along with many divorces and various other types of unquantifiable social decay, if you can save the life of even one 87-year-old with dementia, you’ve done the right thing.
Of course, you could have just only quarantined the old people’s homes and let everyone else go on with their lives normally and so not completely destroy the entire society. But Jacinda didn’t have time to think of that idea. She was too busy being kind.
And being strong.
She is the strong horse.
Jacinda Ardern is the horse upon which democracy rides.
A real mommy protects the good boys from the bad things and the scary things.
Jacinda Ardern is a cunt.
But she truly is the real mommy.
Somehow, after completely destroying the country’s economy for literally no reason other than to signal to the world how good and moral she is, Ardern is going to manage to rebuild the entire country and make it even better than it was before.
That’s what a real mommy does.
