Tony Abbott’s chief business advisor has come out and condemned the global warming witch hunt as a communist hoax by the United Nations, saying “this is not about facts or logic. It’s about a new world order under the control of the UN.”

Sydney Morning Herald:

Maurice Newman, the chairman of the Prime Minister’s business advisory council, has written in The Australian that scientific modelling showing the link between humans and climate change is wrong and the real agenda is a world takeover for the UN.

Environment Minister Greg Hunt said Mr Newman’s position was not a view “I have or would express”.

But he said “individuals are entitled to their views”.

Mr Newman’s column was written to coincide with an Australian visit by the head of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Christiana Figueres.

It follows a piece Mr Newman wrote last year in which he said governments had been hijacked by “green gesture politics” and the world was not prepared for the problem of “global cooling”.

“It’s a well-kept secret, but 95 per cent of the climate models we are told prove the link between human CO₂ emissions and catastrophic global warming have been found, after nearly two decades of temperature stasis, to be in error. It’s not surprising,” Mr Newman wrote on Friday.

“Why then, with such little evidence, does the UN insist the world spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year on futile climate change policies? Perhaps Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the UN’s framework on climate change, has the answer?”

Mr Newman continued that global warming was a “hook” to install a new world order.

It’s funny how you pretty much stopped hearing about the whole global warming hysteria a couple years ago. I obviously read a whole lot of news, and I can tell you, it just doesn’t get brought up much these days.

For a while there it was the whole world’s focus, but the media just dropped it. This is presumably because the models were proved to have been hoaxed, and the whole theory sort of imploded in on itself.

For the record, even while agreeing with the advisor that global warming is part of a communist plot, I do consider myself an environmentalist, and very much support conservation. I think the best thing we can do to protect the planet is to first ban plastic, second ban all GMO crops and third cut all trade ties with third world nations who are engaging in mass pollution and environmental destruction.

Do Indonesians have a right to wipe out the orangutan? I think not.
Do Indonesians have a right to wipe out the orangutan? I think not.

We might even want to send peace-keeping forces to places like Brazil and Indonesia that are engaging in wholesale destruction of the planet. Though probably, if we sanctioned them, that would do the trick.

One thing I do agree with the UN on is that the environment is a global issue which needs to be dealt with on a global scale.

A plan to allow third world countries to regress into the state they were when we found them would be prudent.
