RT Should Stop Doing This Clickbait News Headlines Thing

Here are the top headlines on RT right now:

Sometime maybe last year, RT started doing this “click first to get the real headline” type headlines. Obviously, these increase clicks on articles in the shorter term, but it’s a frustrating strategy.

Half of the above are “click first to see the actual headline.”

1. What did they rule?

4. Which two allies?

6. Which hotel chain?

This “click to solve the mystery of the head” strategy is from cheap internet marketing, i.e. “scientists reveal that THIS surprising 5-minute exercise can increase your erections” or “researchers find that common vegetable can lengthen your penis.”

Obviously, someone who read an ebook on clickbait spam came up with this idea to increase clicks on the RT front page, and it was probably implemented because RT was restricted from being shared on social media and therefore most of the article clicks come from their own front page (I know a thing or two about this).

But it’s just annoying. No other major news site uses this technique on normal news articles.

I’m only pointing this out because this is a time when RT is needed to be in top shape, as it’s really one of the only places people can go to get actual news in English, as the Western media becomes faker and dumber by the second.
