By a motion of 4-1, the local County Board of Education has voted to suspend a teacher, Kelly Tucker, for making an anti-Ferguson post on Facebook. Tucker is a teacher at Eight Street Middle School in Tifton, Georgia. The suspension will last five days, in which time she will not receive pay, and she will have to go through a diversity training course.

Keith Barr of the Tift County Board of Education said Tucker’s post did not warrant the original 10-day suspension after hearing evidence Monday, and Tucker’s 25-year teaching record vouched for her.
Tucker posted a statement on Facebook reportedly about Ferguson unrest in early December that said “It’s turned into a race matter. What about the thugs that beat the father in his vehicle because he didn’t slow down? What about the thugs that shot the college baseball player because they were bored? The list can go on and on. If the dude hadn’t stolen, he would be alive. I think signs should read, ‘Take the hood off your head and pull up your dang pants and quit impregnating everybody.’ I’m tired of paying for these sorry (expletive) thugs. I would much rather my hard earned money that the government takes go to people who need it, such as (abuse of) adults and children, not to mention the animals they beat and fight too. That’s all I’m saying,” as reported by the Tifton Gazette.
BOE officials said the post included a picture of Ferguson protestors at a Christmas parade holding a sign that read “Black lives matter.”
Stacey Beckham said the post was later brought to the board’s attention by parents, community leaders and Tucker’s coworkers. One student was ultimately pulled out of Tucker’s class because of parent complaints.
Afterwards Superintendent Patrick Atwater recommended Tucker be suspended without pay for 10 days because the post violated the school’s code of ethics. Tucker took the decision to the board.
This is the new America: free speech is technically legal, but your speech is all monitored by the state and if you say something that goes against the mainstream narrative, you are punished at work. Usually you get fired, this woman is getting off extremely light for having questioned the Martyrdom of Saint Michael of Ferguson.
