Former US presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has endorsed Joe Biden’s campaign to take on Donald Trump in November’s election.
Senator Sanders pulled out of the contest to be the Democratic Party’s nominee last week, leaving Mr Biden as the only remaining candidate.
In a live split-screen webcast, former vice-president Mr Biden thanked his former rival for the endorsement.
Senator Sanders urged all Americans to unite to defeat Mr Trump.
He described him as “the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country”.
“Today I am asking all Americans – I’m asking every Democrat, I’m asking every independent, I’m asking a lot of Republicans – to come together in this campaign to support your candidacy which I endorse,” Mr Sanders, 78, said.
“It’s imperative that all of us work together.”

I think Jimmy Dore is right.
I think Bernie Sanders is a shill.
It is simply criminal what he did to his supporters. He was in a position to win the nomination, but he absolutely refused to say anything negative about Joe Biden. Even when Biden was attacking him, he said nothing, he just acted hurt that Joe had run negative ads against him.
Then, after railing against the evils of the establishment, he endorses the establishment and says vote for the establishment.
Why?
What could possibly be the point of this, other than to demoralize his own supporters?
Dore, who I consider the archetypal Bernie Sanders supporter, is saying he won’t vote for Biden. He’s arguing that continuing to vote for the establishment when the establishment does nothing to work for your vote is counterproductive.
Bernie has nothing to gain personally. He’s not angling for a cabinet position. So it’s just frankly a bizarre thing to do.
The absolutely obvious thing for him to do, given all of his positions on everything, is to run third party. But he doesn’t. Last time, there was a third party candidate in Jill Stein that he refused to endorse in favor of Hillary Clinton, who is probably the single most corrupt politician who ever lived.
It’s all very curious.
