This is pretty funny. Defense wants more Blacks.

Lawyers for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect asked a judge Thursday to dismiss the indictment against their client or suspend his trial, saying there weren’t enough minorities and younger people in the jury pool.
The move by lawyers for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev came just days before opening statements and testimony are set to begin in his federal death penalty trial.
In their written motion, Tsarnaev’s lawyers say the selection process has undermined the required random summoning of potential jurors.

The defense said 1,373 people, summoned from a population of about 5 million in eastern Massachusetts, were originally given numbers based on a random pool order list. New numbers were later assigned, based on when the jurors reported to court to complete written questionnaires.

“This re-ordering, apparently based on non-random factors such as arrival time, had systemic effects on the order.”

For example, a statistician hired by the defense found that the reordering of prospective jurors, on average, pushed the number of black jurors back 43 positions in the order of selection and moved potential white jurors up by three positions. Prospective jurors who live in Boston were pushed back 25 positions, and those under 30 moved back 13 slots, the defense said.
The statistician, comparing the reordered jurors to their original order, found there were no prospective black jurors among the first 94 people in the new order. He said there would have been five potential black jurors if the court had kept the jurors in their original order.

They also argued that the process did not identify enough prospective black jurors. They said although black people make up 6.14 percent of the population eligible for jury service, they make up only 4.25 percent of the list of names drawn for jury selection.
Hahahahha. The Blacks showed up late so the case needs dismissed!
A funny thing here, wanting Blacks on the jury. No Blacks died, and thus the Blacks are much more likely to be sympathetic to the accused bomber. A Black may in fact be prone to side with the bomber in his acts, because he also doesn’t like White people. Clearly, that is the only reason they would want more Blacks.
Wanting more young people is also interesting. There was a movement by young girls to claim that Tsarnaev was innocent because he looks like a member of a boyband.

Anyway, the trial will be interesting. A lot of people online did claim that this was a conspiracy involving the government for the purpose of demonizing Russia’s minority Moslem population.
As the regular reader is aware, I am typically extremely sceptical about conspiracy claims, but there were definitely some weird aspects to this plot, especially with regards to this kid’s connection to the actual bombing. His dead brother, on the other hand, definitely appears to have been a hardcore Moslem whackjob.
The Alex Jones claims that there were guys in hats with the punisher logo there, and the bodies were faked and so on strike me as very wacky, but there is a possibility this kid was caught up in something a bit bigger and didn’t really understand his role.
Watching the news when it happened, the whole scene following the bombing seemed very strange, with this kid running through people’s backyards in suburbs while bleeding heavily and then holing up in a boat for a shootout with the police wherein he didn’t die but go shot in the face in such a way as he couldn’t talk for weeks.
He was also shot in the mouth after he came out with his hands up, which is weird and seemingly unlikely. Though when you are dealing with cops who have not been to war, and only possibly been involved in gun situations with Blacks, it is not surprising that one may have “jumped the gun” and shot him when his hands were up.
There were also allegations that his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed after having been arrested.
So, several weird things. The trial will be interesting.
