He should have told the police it was a terrorist attack – then he could have claimed “mental illness.”

StokeOnTrentLive:

Drugged-up driver Hassan Hussain has been jailed after knocking over and killing a man when travelling twice the speed limit.

Hussain, aged 26, was travelling along Horninglow Road in Burton shortly before 10.30pm on January 22 last year when his Audi A5 struck 33-year-old Martin Povolny.

Martin, from Burton, was on his way home at the time and, despite the best efforts from the emergency services and passers-by, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) found Hussain was travelling at 64mph – twice the legal limit of 30 – just seconds before the crash.

Having been struck by the car Martin was then dragged over 50 metres. Hussain drove off only to hand himself in an hour later.

Hussain, of of Branston Road, in Burton, has now been jailed for 52 months after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving during a hearing at Stafford Crown Court.

He has also been banned from driving for 62 months and ordered to take an extended retest.
