Mohammed Uddin.
This might be the most quintessentially British story I’ve read all week.
A restaurant boss accused of raping a “drunk woman” after spotting her on Cleethorpes beach has denied the offence.
Bottles of vodka were on the beach at the time of the incident, it is claimed.
Indian restaurant owner Mohammed Uddin, 45, is accused of raping the woman in Cleethorpes on August 21.
He denied the charge when he appeared in custody before Grimsby Crown Court.
The court heard that the prosecution claims that Uddin encountered a “drunk woman on a beach”.
Defence barrister Craig Lowe claimed that bottles of vodka were on the beach at the time of the incident and that the woman had been drinking heavily.
DNA evidence would be crucial in the case against Uddin, the court was told.
…
The case was adjourned until January for trial and Uddin, of Augusta Street, Grimsby, was further remanded in custody, although he could be granted bail when an application is made on Friday.
