So we’re just losing weapons-grade nuclear material now.
The amount of material stolen from Idaho State University is not enough to make a nuclear bomb. It can however make a dirty bomb.
A dirty bomb uses mostly conventional explosives with a small amount of nuclear material for the purpose of spreading radioactive material along with the normal damage to structures and people.
One dirty bomb with a small amount of plutonium (about a gram from what we have been told in this case) likely would not have enough of a radiation hazard to kill people. Maybe it could contaminate water or something, but it’s not going to have a huge effect.
But if whoever stole this (if it was stolen, it just went missing apparently) somehow got more, that would be another story.
A story which will likely end with mercenaries fighting in a radioactive city.
But seriously, how the hell do you just lose weapons-grade plutonium?
You would think that anything which could be used to make a nuclear weapon would have at least as much security as a gas station bathroom with the thick metal door and the fact you need to ask for the key because they don’t want people (blacks) smoking crack in there.
This entire thing smells fishy.
Like rotting gefilte fish.
