Everywhere in the world is going nuts talking about how happy they are the infection rate is going down.
Los Angeles County public health officials Saturday announced 1,032 new cases of the coronavirus and 41 related deaths but also revealed encouraging signs of progress in slowing the virus’s spread.
“Thanks to everyone’s efforts, our data points to steady declines in hospitalizations, deaths and the percent of people testing positive,” Barbara Ferrer, the county health director, said Saturday in a statement.
The county has seen a 13% decrease in its latest seven-day average of deaths per day and a 16% decrease in its most recent three-day average of hospitalizations per day, according to a Department of Health dashboard that tracks metrics related to recovery.
In addition, the percentage of people who have tested positive in L.A. County has reached an all-time low of 8.5%, compared with 28% in New York City, Ferrer said.
It’s not thanks to the efforts of anyone. It’s because the weather is warmer.
For literally thousands of years, we’ve recognized that contagious respiratory infections are almost always seasonal, for a number of different reasons. One key aspect is being altered by this lockdown, and that is that these viruses spread more aggressively when people are inside.
For whichever reason, these people are pretending like this is a result of them doing all these weird things to people. In fact, it is not. We probably would have had a higher infection rate with all of these weird things. I guess. No one really knows. In America, the infection rate is higher than most places that didn’t do the lockdown, such as Sweden, South Korea and Japan. There is also the Arkansas problem.
But whatever the case, we would still be headed towards near-zero because of summer, and it probably would be much lower than it is now if they would let us out of our houses.
The problem here is that it’s going to come back pretty strong in the fall. It will be at least as strong as the damage we’ve done to our immune systems by avoiding infection. That is, it will be as bad as the lockdown was effective.
Anyway, none of this data really matters, because they’re lying about all of it, so it’s kind of pointless to even talk about any data unless it is accumulated some way other than through the official channels of WHO and the CDC.
What we do know is that it won’t matter how many real infections there are in the fall, as they will be shutting everything down completely again, and it will be a much more aggressive shutdown than the one we witnessed this year.
President Trump last week officially announced that he won’t allow a second lockdown.
President Trump said Thursday the United States would not shut down in the case of a second coronavirus wave.
“People say that’s a very distinct possibility. It’s standard. And we’re going to put out the fires. We’re not going to close the country. We’re going to put out the fires,” Trump told reporters during a tour of a Ford manufacturing plant in Ypsilanti, Mich., when asked if he was concerned about a second wave of COVID-19.
Trump expressed confidence in the country’s ability to contain future outbreaks, referring to them as “embers.”
“Whether it’s an ember or a flame, we’re going to put it out. But we’re not closing our country,” the president continued.
We’ll see how that works out, but if that is something he pushes hard on, he will not win the election.
