8chan Owner Jim Watkins Says the Walmart Shooter Isn’t the One Who Uploaded the Manifesto to 8chan

Jim Watkins, 8chan owner, gave a brilliant and very slow YouTube speech addressing the shootings and the fallout he’s faced as a result on Tuesday.

He said that he didn’t do anything illegal and the site is not illegal, which is factually accurate.

Interestingly, he also said that the Walmart shooter, Patrick Crusius, did not upload the manifesto to 8chan. He says he doesn’t know if he wrote it, but someone else uploaded it. He says the shooter himself was using instagram, though it isn’t clear if he is claiming that is where the manifesto was originally uploaded.

I don’t really understand what this means, and he doesn’t elaborate on it. Further, I can’t find any other information about this. Maybe he’s just making it up, I don’t know, but the fact that he said it is certainly newsworthy in its own right.

Jim is a kind of weird guy, as you can clearly tell by watching him, but I don’t know that he would just make that up out of nowhere, especially knowing that no one is going to report it and will keep blaming him for the shooting. There is no reason to make that up.

If someone else did upload it, who would it be?

If you missed it, you can read the full manifesto here. The manifesto is written in a much different style than his Twitter page, which you can see archives of here.
