It turns out that Donald Trump isn’t going to go through with his plan to ban immigration. But after it was announced, we witnessed former Democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke make some really weird tweets.

The strangest of the strange series of tweets read: “Who the fuck do you think is working on the farms and feed lots, in the packing houses and processing plants at a time where we are struggling to feed ourselves? Who is in the kitchen? Who is picking, preparing, serving the food we eat and cleaning up afterwards?”
This really illustrates how completely out of touch the Democrat elite are better than any short series of words I have seen so far. Most of us do not have Mexicans working in our kitchen, serving us food or cleaning up our food. Having Mexican house servants is a privilege of the wealthiest people in this country. The fact that Beto speaks as if every household in America has a Mexican maid is actually shocking. He was such an unnaturally manufactured candidate that you would expect he would have people reviewing his tweets and pointing out things such as the fact that him complaining about Donald Trump trying to take his house servants away would come across poorly.
Moreover, this really speaks to the mindset of these people. They are an elite that is concerned about the interests of the elite, and any framing of this in terms of humanitarianism is just a way to market support for their own decadent lifestyle. I’m sure Beto likes his house servants, and is kind to them. Or I would hope so. But for him, immigration is primarily about maintaining a servant class than it is about transferring wealth to brown people to correct historical injustice.
Transferring wealth to brown people to correct historical injustice never made any coherent sense. People using these talking points were always just about signaling that they are good people because they believe the things they’re told to believe. The actual driving force behind immigration is the desire of the elite to drive down wages in order to maintain a permanent underclass. Attaching weird and confusing pseudo-religious morality to it was always just a hoax to get a bunch of stupid people to go along with an elite agenda while thinking they’re supporting the underprivileged.
You don’t see the mask come off very often, as it is so easy for them to just go around morality-shaming anyone who dares question this agenda. They call them evil skin-haters for not wanting to be ethnically cleansed in their own countries, and everyone either shuts up or has their life destroyed.
Beto volunteered the information that he is concerned about his house servants because he’s that weird and out of touch. It would be great if they did this more often.
Whatever narrative they come up with in the future is going to need to be different than the “help the poor innocent brown people” narrative, because when white Americans are homeless and hungry or on the edge of being homeless and hungry, “white privilege” is not going to sell.

Honestly, “don’t you dare try to take my house servants” is probably as good a narrative as any.
