A Lee County teenager will spend the next five years behind bars after pleading guilty Friday to felony child abuse, according to authorities.

Laferious Clifton, 19, entered the plea during a hearing in Lee County Circuit Court Friday.

Authorities say Clifton was arrested following an investigation by Verona police.

The child has since recovered from injuries sustained in the incident.

Clifton was sentenced to five years in prison and an additional five years probation for the crime.
