When it’s white-on-black, it’s a “hate crime.”

But when it’s black-on-white, it’s always a “random attack.”

ABC7:

A man is accused of stabbing another man while he was taking out the trash at his home in Marriottsville, Maryland Wednesday night. Investigators in a Thursday release said the incident is believed to be a random attack.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jonathan Logan is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault, and burglary.

Officers responded to the scene and found 57-year-old Gary Polinsky suffering from stab wounds to his abdomen. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say Polinsky was taking out the trash when Logan approached the victim and stabbed him at his home located in the 11100 block of Willow Green Way.

Logan left the scene but officers found him and recovered a bloody folding knife and a ski mask in his pocket. Police believe Polinsky and Logan didn’t know each other and an investigation is underway.
