London has eased some restrictions it imposed on Russia over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, allowing companies to provide insurance and reinsurance to entities linked to Russia. The amendment to the ‘General Trade Licence Russia Sanctions – Vessels’ was announced on Monday by the UK Department for International Trade.
“The General Licence has been revised to remove Regulation 28 (financial services and funds related to restricted goods and restricted technology) from paragraph 1(h),” the department explained in a brief statement.
“This enables the provision of insurance and reinsurance to a person connected with Russia in relation to the items in paragraph 1 (a), subject to the wider restrictions and conditions of the licence,” it added. The aforementioned paragraph mentions sea vessels and aircraft, their component parts, as well as aero gas turbine engines.
Yeah, it’s not an irrelevant easing, and there is no reason why they would be doing it unless they were going to do more.

Despite China’s outrage over US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s possible visit to the self-governing island, British lawmakers are reportedly planning a similarly provocative trip later this year, the Guardian has reported citing multiple sources.
The UK delegation will likely be headed by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee Tom Tugendhat, or “whoever becomes the next chair,” one source told the newspaper. The trip was initially supposed to take place earlier this year, but was rescheduled to November or early December, allegedly due to one of the delegates testing positive for Covid.
Like Washington, London officially upholds a “One-China policy”, but maintains unofficial ties with Taiwan. The Taipei representative office in London told the Guardian it “welcomes any opportunities to strengthen its relations with Britain, including through visits from the UK,” but refused to confirm any details of the alleged trip.
I don’t know if you know this already, but I should tell you: China is actually a more serious enemy than Russia. Attacking China after attacking Russia is like attacking Russia after attacking rando Moslems.
This logic of “well, we’re losing against this enemy, let’s try a harder one” is not logical.
Apparently, the UK is just a total puppet of the US, and just doesn’t even think any of this stuff through at all.

I can’t even believe that the failure in the Ukraine is being buried under a conflict with China. This is just vulgar. It’s like a plot from that show Peep Show, “we really screwed up here, ain’t we mate? I guess we look pretty stupid losing this war with Russia. What will people think? We’ll have to distract them with something. I know – let’s start a war with China!”
