Canada Wants to Add Warning Labels to Each Individual Cigarette

People just haven’t yet gotten the message that the government doesn’t want you smoking cigarettes.

We need to push it to the limits.

Maybe when you light a cigarette, it can trigger the projection of a hologram of a woman nagging you about second-hand smoke?

Japan Today:

Canada will soon require that health warnings be printed on individual cigarettes and cigars in a further crackdown on smoking, the country’s addictions minister has announced.

The messaging, to be phased in starting August 1, will include lines such as “Poison in every puff,” “Tobacco smoke harms children” and “Cigarettes cause cancer.”

Addictions Minister Carolyn Bennett said tobacco use continues to kill 48,000 Canadians each year. The new labeling rule is a world first, she said, although Britain has flirted with a similar regulation.

“This bold step will make health warning messages virtually unavoidable and, together with updated graphic images displayed on the package, will provide a real and startling reminder of the health consequences of smoking,” Bennett said.

The health consequences of smoking have never been proved.

I’m serious.

The studies have no controls.

Working class people smoke more. They are also more likely to be overweight, to have a poor diet, and, probably most relevant to the lung cancer issue, to have been exposed with regularity to industrial chemicals.

A proper “smoking causes cancer” study would have to control for all of that, and there is no such study.

These people jumped the shark when they started pushing “second-hand smoke,” claiming that simply smelling smoke could cause some kind of health issue.

Do you know what we do have real studies on?

The effects of nicotine on testosterone levels.

Worst of all: imagine believing that the Canadian government – which recently tried to force the entire population to be injected with an experimental gene therapy that had gone through effectively zero safety testing – really cares about your health.
