Coon and Coonette Sentenced to Life for Killing Two Old White Women in Retirement Community

The retirement community was called “Surprise,” but I think we can all agree that there is nothing remotely surprising about this event.

AZ Central:

Two people were sentenced to life in prison Friday for a 2016 double murder in a Surprise retirement community, officials said.

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge sentenced Montez Wright and Tichina Shepard for the murders of 70-year-old Barbara Leslie and 75-year-old Ruth Schwed in Surprise in 2016, said Bryan Bouchard, a court spokesman.

Wright and Shepard were found guilty in February on two counts of first-degree murder and other charges.

Officers discovered the women’s bodies in the living room of Leslie’s home near Goldwater Ridge Drive and Clearview Boulevard after Schwed’s son hadn’t heard from his mother for two days. In addition, $23,000 in pending charges were found on Schwed’s debit card.
