Facebook has Gone Too Far This Time

Zuckerberg has basically admitted to intervening in trying to prevent the righteous cleansing of Moslems from Buddhist lands.

They dug into people’s private chats and began flagging, deleting, and blocking them.

We’re not talking about stuff that’s open to the public in the news feed. This is the stuff that people only share with one another. And it’s being moderated and manipulated.

Bloomberg:

Facebook Inc. scans the links and images that people send each other on Facebook Messenger, and reads chats when they’re flagged to moderators, making sure the content abides by the company’s rules. If it doesn’t, it gets blocked or taken down.

The company confirmed the practice after an interview published earlier this week with Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg raised questions about Messenger’s practices and privacy. Zuckerberg told Vox’s Ezra Klein a story about receiving a phone call related to ethnic cleansing in Myanmar. Facebook had detected people trying to send sensational messages through the Messenger app, he said.

“In that case, our systems detect what’s going on,” Zuckerberg said. “We stop those messages from going through.”

Lol, this stupid fucker tipped off the Jewish bloodhound Ezra Klein that he was reading messages and got him on his tail.

Some people reacted with concern on Twitter: Was Facebook reading messages more generally? Facebook has been under scrutiny in recent weeks over how it handles users’ private data and the revelation struck a nerve. Messenger doesn’t use the data from the scanned messages for advertising, the company said, but the policy may extend beyond what Messenger users expect.

“Revelations.”

Really you plebs? People have been talking about how Facebook snoops on you since day one.

Idk how people rationalize this one away.

So whatever, just like the Snowden leaks, all we got was confirmation of what the conspiracy theorists were theorizing.

Will this be enough to sink Zuckerberg? Well, they’re already baying for his blood.

Wired:

Mark Zuckerberg is the most powerful individual the corporate world has seen in decades. He doesn’t just lead an institution that touches almost every person on the planet; he also, thanks to financial engineering, has a majority of shareholder votes and controls the board, and is therefore answerable to no one. By design, he can’t be fired—he can only resign.

Which is exactly what he should now do.

Zuckerberg’s resignation would open up the possibility of a world-changing and reputation-enhancing second chapter, not only for him personally but also for Facebook the corporation. More important, those changes would clearly benefit the planet as a whole.

So basically they want to amputate the infected limb and salvage the body. In other words, take over this massive behemoth and put Zuckerberg to pasture. They don’t want to lose the world’s largest spying and data collecting apparatus, but they understand that no one likes the Zuck.

This is a bold move tbh.

It’s basically trying to get Zuckerberg to hand over the website that he built/stole from the ground-up just by applying public pressure on him. Someone must be pulling the strings here, someone must think that they can inherit Facebook in the fallout.

It’s a delicate operation to be sure.

They have to raise the public outcry to a high enough level to get Zuckerberg to cave, while not destroying the reputation of the company permanently – so that it can still be used by the new owners.

Either way, get off Facebook if you haven’t already.
