A man was shot and killed over the weekend in Cordova after a shootout, and four men have been charged in connection to his death.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were on the scene of the shooting in the 6900 block of Lagrange Circle South around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

A police affidavit says a car pulled up to the Black family’s home, and someone started shooting.

When Chauncy and Timothy Black returned fire, bullets struck the house across the street.

One person, later identified by authorities as 26-year-old Kaleb Wakefield, was shot in that house and taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. Around 10 p.m., the sheriff’s office said he died from injuries at the hospital.

Chauncy, 18, and Timothy, 20, were charged Sunday. Jail information lists the charges for both men as reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.
