There’s something worse for the governments that the spread of the coronavirus, and that’s the spread of racism.

AP:

Authorities conducted raids in 10 German states Thursday at premises linked to a group accused of pursuing a mix of anti-government and racist ideology.

Germany’s top security official, Horst Seehofer, issued a ban on United German Peoples and Tribes, the first time a group associated with the so-called Reichsbuerger movement has been proscribed.

We are dealing with a group that distributes racist and anti-Semitic writings and in doing so systematically poisons our free society,” Seehofer said in a statement.

Authorities say members of the newly banned group, whose activities were focused in Berlin, had issued threats against German officials.

Yeah, threatening people is illegal.

It’s interesting, though, that top security official Seehofer referred to the group’s activities as distributing racist and anti-Semitic writings instead of emphasizing the “threatening German officials” part.

It goes to show what the priorities are.

The idea that sharing racist and anti-Semitic writings somehow “poisons” a free society is pretty absurd.

It really is no different than saying “being free to discuss many things is bad for freedom.”
