I want to issue a statement regarding my earlier statement that Kanye West’s new album, “Jesus is King,” is not a good album.
My intention was simply to say that it doesn’t matter if you enjoy the album or not, it is an amazing cultural victory to force all of these Jews to say “JESUS IS KING.” And to have that throughout the media.
That statement is literally no different to Jews than “GAS THE KIKES.”
If people enjoy the album itself, then more power to them. I wasn’t trying to say people shouldn’t enjoy the album, or that it might not somehow have artistic merit. Or whatever.
I personally grew up with a different Kanye, whose rapping was more immediately coherent and the music was less esoteric.
It was a welcome edition to the popular music scene, after most of what had been played everywhere on repeat had been horrible for a long time.
Some people just don’t realize how bad it was; 2007, the year Graduation was released, was an absolute nightmare world. Linkin Park was still releasing albums, it was Fallout Boy, it was this suicide-inducing crunk.
Kanye really shined a light then and for that I will always be grateful.
I just don’t really think – personally – that these transformations he’s made over the last decade have been very good. I say this from a purely musical and personal standpoint.
But I’ve listened again to JESUS IS KING and it isn’t terrible. The gospel stuff is nice.
Point being.
I was actually trying to defend the album by saying it didn’t matter if it was good or not, what matters is that it is a culture bomb.
