Kansas: Publisher Dies of Stress After Newspaper Offices and Personal Home Raided by Cops

I said yesterday (I don’t remember in which article, it all runs together) that it was stupid to say “the left is supposed to be against war.”

I guess the same thing is true about the cops – these people went from chanting “abolish the police” to “defend the honor of the FBI.”

Reddit types are complaining about the cops raiding this newspaper and causing the publisher to die from stress.

I’m against raids on newspapers. I believe in free speech, totally, because I know I’m right and in the public square, I’m going to win. That’s the reason me and Nick Fuentes are the most banned people – because we’re really the only two public figures making the arguments that break the system.

I’m not afraid of a battle of ideas with any single leftist, and I think that at least as long as we live in a republican system (small “r” republican, i.e., the system outlined in the Constitution), the press should be sacred (although I think anti-trust laws should be enforced against media conglomerates).

Of course, CNN is saying “the press is sacred” while also lobbying for mass censorship and claiming that Trump should be silenced for saying the press is lying. So none of these leftist arguments really even make any sense. Basically, there is so much censorship, that they don’t have to make any sense.

Reuters:

A Kansas newspaper that was searched by police said its 98-year-old co-owner died on Saturday from stress related to the incident, which free press advocates condemned as a possible violation of the Marion County Record’s First Amendment rights.

A search warrant, authorized by a Marion County District Court judge, said there was probable cause to believe there was identity theft and unlawful acts concerning computers, according to an image of the warrant published by the Kansas Reflector news organization.

In a story published on its website, the Record said the search of its office was related to a reporter verifying a drunken driving charge against a local restaurant owner, Kari Newell.

So, this is like some old school type police corruption?

You don’t see that much, given that modern police corruption has been institutionalized.

Reuters was not able to reach Newell or the reporter, Phyllis Zorn, for comment. Calls to the Marion Country Record went unanswered. A recording at the restaurant and its website indicated the eatery was closed on Sundays.

Reuters could not independently verify the warrant’s contents or the Record’s story.

Stressed beyond her limits and overwhelmed by hours of shock and grief after illegal police raids on her home and the Marion County Record newspaper office Friday, 98-year-old newspaper co-owner Joan Meyer, otherwise in good health for her age, collapsed Saturday afternoon and died at her home,” the paper reported.

Okay, so Zorn, Meyer…

Cops could have had a point. Maybe they were using the newspaper as a base for cybercrime or whatever that paragraph up there is saying.

Meyer doesn’t look Jewish exactly, but I could also believe he is.

It’s a German name, and there are a lot more actual Germans in Kansas than there are Jews, but I would assume like everywhere else in the country, Jews are concentrated around the media.

The Record said in its article Meyer had been unable to eat or sleep after police showed up at the door of her home on Friday with a search warrant and took away her computer and router.

Reuters could not establish the state of Meyer’s health before the warrant was served and was unable to reach the Marion County Medical Examiner to confirm the cause of death.

Marion County Police also searched the newspaper office on Friday, seizing personal cell phones, computers and the newspaper server, among other equipment, the Record said.

Marion Police Chief Gideon Cody did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on Sunday. On Saturday, he issued a statement justifying the search of the newspaper.

“As much as I would like to give everyone details on a criminal investigation I cannot. I believe when the rest of the story is available to the public, the judicial system that is being questioned will be vindicated,” Cody said.

Such searches are highly unusual given that news organizations are largely protected from government intrusion under the free press guarantees of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The Kansas Press Association described the search as “unprecedented” and “an assault on the very foundation of democracy.”

Okay, so, I don’t know. I’ve read several stories about this story, and there just isn’t very much information available.

I can’t tell if these people are Jewish, but I also can’t really tell what they’re being accused of. Here’s the paper’s official account (I guess you would call it an official account – it’s not a press statement but a news report on events involving their own paper). They say the drunk driver was outraged and made accusations and the police listened to her and did this massive raid – which really is “unprecedented” – taking all of the computers and personal cellphones, and then literally raided the owner’s house. This is like what they would do to the Daily Stormer.

So maybe this is local corruption, of the old-fashioned sort, maybe the newspaper is run by Jews who were up to something, maybe this is some kind of FBI conspiracy to establish precedent for media raids.

I have no idea, but this story has been getting a lot of attention (even before the guy died, it was getting a lot of attention), so I thought I’d fill you in on what I know (which, as you can see here, is basically nothing).

The more interesting aspect than what actually happened is that leftists are complaining about this, and talking about “our democracy.” But that isn’t really very interesting, because these people will say anything, and don’t feel shame, or understand the concept of hypocrisy. You can’t just be like “oh well, you are against local cops attacking a small newspaper, so why are you in support of the FBI trying to destroy the Daily Stormer”?
