Patrick Lancaster, who I believe is the singular American journalist in Mariupol, went there as an independent journalist with a YouTube channel, but has been hired by Arnab Goswami’s Republic World news channel, which is my new favorite news channel.
Patrick is the only Western journalist on the ground, because he’s actually embedded with the Russians. The Ukrainians kept killing all the journalists that tried to embed with them.
Patrick is a funny guy. I thought after he was there for a few weeks, he would get over the horror of the situation, but he still just has a look of constant terror on his face.
It’s fun though, he just drives around the city and always says “well, it looks like we’ve got shelling coming in, we’d better drive somewhere else.”
He’s also a great bro. He is always trying to help civilians. He’s basically a war hero as well as a reporter. Half of his show is “we’re going to try to help these civilians who are trapped in a basement.”
He’s come across a lot of sick stuff. He found a mutilated woman’s body in the basement of one of the elementary schools Azov was using as a base. She had been raped and cut up and they drew a swastika on her corpse. I think he might find the satanic altars in Azovstal.
He also covered the fact that Azov is mining positions they retreat from… with naval mines.
From what Patrick is reporting, it looks like Azov is totally backed into just one base, and the whole thing is ending in Mariupol.
Azov were the most devoted soldiers in the Ukrainian army, as they were fighting for Satan or the Fourth Reich or whatever. Furthermore, they were the ones slaughtering people in Donbass, so they had both the most embedded foreign agents and the most experience. When Azovstal falls, the rest of this army is going to start asking what exactly they are doing.
Are they really going to die for Zelensky, who everyone at this point knows is not even in the country? They’re going to die for NATO membership? Anal sex? What are they fighting for? No one thinks Putin wants to rule over Western Ukraine.
The media is retardedly reporting that Russians “retreated” from Kiev. It’s all so dumb. Obviously, anyone paying attention can see that the objective was never to “take” Kiev, and the point of moving a convoy to it was to split the Ukrainian forces. Now they’re going to be able to close off the east of the country completely, entrapping the remaining Ukrainian forces there, and leave a bunch of forces in Kiev standing around holding their dicks.
I think you’re going to see a surrender of the Eastern forces after Mariupol is finished off. These people are not fighting “for their country,” and I just don’t think it will be possible to keep morale up in a hopeless battle for nothing.
Patrick is probably going to follow the Russian military wherever the front lines are, and this is the only decent coverage.
I highly recommend the Republic World YouTube channel. They have live streaming coverage all the time, usually multiple streams. They have other on-the-ground reporters (though a lot of them devolve into Hindi even though they’re supposed to speak English because of the stress of being in a war zone, you still see the footage).
Along with the war coverage, Arnab’s flagship show is a debate show that is the most fun you can still find on YouTube – by a lot. He just invites everyone on and just badgers Americans and their shills. People regularly flip out. It’s really amazing.
