A Salt Lake City man was arrested Monday after his girlfriend’s 1-year-old son was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Brian Taylor, 24, was booked into Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of child abuse after the baby suffered major head trauma while alone with him for a short period of time, according to jail documents.
The 1-year-old boy, who was on life support Monday, isn’t expected to survive, jail documents state.
Taylor was the mother’s boyfriend but not the baby’s father, said Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Robin Heiden.
A 911 call for “medical help” was made Monday afternoon from a house at 2393 S. 800 East, Heiden said.
Doctors at Primary Children’s Hospital called police to report possible abuse, Heiden said. Investigators obtained a search warrant to go through the toddler’s house Monday prior to the arrest.
