New Sanction: US Bans All Import or Export of Dollars to Russia

I know it’s difficult to keep track of all of these different sanctions that the US is putting on Russia.

But this is a new one which is intended to make it impossible for them to trade oil, or for citizens to use dollars for other forms of trade.

This is something that has never been done to North Korea or Iran. Russia passed the world record for most sanctioned country like a week ago, now they’re like a tranny in the women’s swimming competition of the sanctions olympics.

RT:

On Friday, the United States prohibited the exportation, re-exportation, sale, or supply, directly or indirectly, from the United States, or by a United States person, of US dollar-denominated banknotes to the Russian government or any person located in Russia. The White House is ramping up economic pressure on Russia over the war in Ukraine.

This presents a serious problem for Russia, which is a major oil exporter, as most oil contracts are settled in US currency.

It presents a serious problem or a serious opportunity.

I’m not going to say “Bitcoin fixes this,” although Bitcoin obviously fixes this.

However, Russia has oil for sale, and the US just caused the price of oil to shoot through the roof, so China and others are going to figure out a way to buy oil from Russia.

While it will take Russia a minute to implement a process to deal with this (I’m sure the process has already been laid out), all this really does in the long-run (and even the medium-run) is devalue the dollar.

At some point, the entire rest of the world is going to start asking why they continue to cut the US in on all of these deals. It used to be that the US got cut in because if you tried to cut them out you’d get invaded or at least bombed.

But the US recently made a humiliating surrender to these guys:

Now they’re blowing up their own economy in a demonstration of… of what, exactly?

The analogy is this:

For those who don’t remember, that is a 1963 photo of a Buddhist monk setting himself on fire to protest the South Vietnamese proclaiming Vietnam a Christian country and banning the Buddhist flag.

I still don’t really understand what the purpose of this was. “Suicide as political protest” is not a coherent concept to me, and I’ve never read anything that cleared it up. I understand Islamic-type “suicide bombing as political protest” – that’s pretty self-explanatory – but just killing yourself and none of your enemies… I don’t get it.

Yet, this is basically exactly what the US is doing in response to Russia invading the Ukraine. None of these sanctions really hurt Russia in the long term, though it has yet to be explained – or even really discussed – how already struggling Americans are going to pay double or triple for everything they need to live.

Then you have the mentioned issue of the US demonstrating that it is a completely unstable country, totally unwilling to honor basic agreements that it makes with other countries. Saudi Arabia is currently involved in a war in Yemen that is a lot more brutal than the Ukraine – a lot, lot, lot. The US supports that war, but now Biden is trying to do a deal with Iran, while also calling and trying to buy oil from Iran. This is after Obama made a deal with Iran that Donald Trump refused to honor.

So what is the incentive for the Gulf nations to keep cutting the US in? Obviously, you can mention various issues, but from the 40,000 foot view, if you’re the Arabs, you must recognize that the US is the most unreliable possible ally.

So you’re witnessing the US self-immolate domestically and on the world stage for reasons that are not even coherent.
