Police Hunting Spic Car Thief After Chase

The Buffalo Valley Regional Police are still searching this morning for an alleged car thief who took a Volkswagen Beetle from downtown Lewisburg on Thursday.

The suspect’s identity is unknown, but is believed to be an Hispanic male in this late 20s with long black, hair. He is believed to be between 6-foot and 6-foot, 2-inches tall and was wearing a blue, striped shirt and khaki shorts or pants, according to police.

The incident started shortly after 1:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Market Street. The vehicle’s owner, Art Moser, 66, of Lewisburg, attempted to stop the theft and was almost run over.

The suspect led police on a pursuit into New Columbia, where the suspect ditched the car in a wooded area and ran off on foot.

Police said one subject was later detained but could not be positively identified by witnesses.
