Putin Says He’s Not Ready to Declare Martial Law in Russia – Yet

Putin should declare martial law in Russia and abolish the democracy system they have in place, installing himself as Czar.

But he says he’s not ready to do that – yet.

RT:

President Vladimir Putin on Saturday denied rumors that Russia was poised to declare a state of emergency or martial law due to the ongoing military operation in Ukraine and Western sanctions against Moscow.

“Martial law is declared in a country… in case of a foreign aggression, including in particular places where hostilities take place. We don’t have a case like this, and I hope we won’t,” Putin said in a televised meeting with Russian female airline personnel.

Wait – it was a meeting with a stewardess?

Pretty based.

I wish American leaders would just do televised interviews with stewardesses instead of CNN/Fox.

Russian law also provides for various forms of special states or a state of emergency to be declared due to serious domestic threats or disasters, Putin added. That is not the case now either, he said.

“We don’t plan to impose any special state on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the president reassured those who attended the meeting. “There is no need for it today.”

Well, Facebook is banned and Twitter is apparently mostly banned, so the ability for the CIA to incite domestic terror in the form of a color revolution is effectively zero.

It’s non-zero, but it is statistically very improbable that without those foreign influence networks that the West is going to be able to organize a revolution. If Russian agents of the West living in the West attempt to organize street protests without the internet – well, that isn’t really a threat. Firstly, it’s unlikely that anyone even would know how to do that. Secondly, if they did somehow figure it out, the leaders could just be arrested and the crowds dispersed.

The way things have worked since the advent of the smartphone is that these protests, riots and revolutions are organized by actors outside of the country using social media. The West has become so dependent on that model that without it they don’t really know what to do. You see how badly these attempts have gone inside of China. The only thing you ever see is a few Falun Gong with Evangelical cults – organized over Tor or VPNs, or by spies on the ground – organizing very small protests, and the cops just show up and tell them to go home.

Apparently, the question of martial law in Russia was brought up through Ukrainian disinformation channels.

A senior Ukrainian official earlier this week claimed its foreign intelligence service had learned that Putin might “preventively” declare martial law in Russia on Friday. Presidential aide Mikhail Podolyak claimed without evidence that Russia would ban all protests, cut any contacts with other nations, and impose other restrictions. The prediction never materialized.

Putin didn’t refer to any specific claims, but said predictions of Russia going on a war footing was part of a propaganda campaign being waged against it.

He doesn’t really need to cut contacts with other nations, because other nations have cut contact with Russia.

Right now, we are witnessing, in real time, a plan to put Russia in the same category as North Korea – as an isolated “rogue state.”

Putin also addressed the war, and the Western threats of a no-fly zone.

“Only professional military staff are participating” in the Russian operation in Ukraine, he said. “Not a single conscript is there, and we don’t plan” to change that. Every Russian soldier and officer in Ukraine made a choice to join the ranks, and they are fulfilling their duty there with honor, Putin said.

Staying on the issue of foreign military threats, Putin declared that an attempt to establish and enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine by foreign powers would be treated as an act of joining the military conflict by whichever nation would attempt it.

That is basically saying he will declare war on NATO if Western powers start shooting down Russian jets over the Ukraine.

It sounds like a very bold statement – and it is a very bold statement – but thus far, we’ve seen Putin do just exactly what he said he was going to do, in every situation.

He’s made it clear that he is totally ready to start firing nukes if Russia is cornered.

So, I wouldn’t want to push him.
