I don’t really understand how anyone on earth doesn’t understand at this point that the best way to harm Russia would be to reduce the sanctions on them.
Who is making these decisions?
To state the obvious: the gas is off right now, and Europe is trying to figure out a way to convince Russia to turn it back on.
RT:
The European Union is planning to amend its sanctions on Moscow to facilitate trade in food and fertilizers, Reuters reported on Tuesday.
The changes will allow EU nations to unfreeze the funds of top Russian banks, which may be required to ease bottlenecks in the global trade of food and fertilizers, Reuters explained, citing a draft document it has seen.
The document said the funds could be released “after having determined that such funds or economic resources are necessary for the purchase, import or transport of agricultural and food products, including wheat and fertilizers,” the agency said.
The revised sanctions will also help facilitate exports of food from Russian ports, which traders had stopped servicing despite food exports being explicitly exempted from the sanctions, Reuters added, quoting an official.
The amendments are expected to be adopted on Wednesday, and will reportedly concern Russian lenders such as VTB, Sovcombank, Otkritie FC Bank, Promsvyazbank, and others.
Like, couldn’t you just say “we want to harm Russia’s economy, so we’re going to pull back on some of these sanctions”?
I guess that would be anti-Semitic, because you would be insulting the intelligence of the Jews who thought these sanctions would destroy the Russian economy.
I hope Russia is like “nah, too late.”
Russia should refuse to allow the EU to lift the sanctions, and force them to figure out how to ship all of this LNG from Texas.
Anyway – this is a leaked draft from the EU. I assume it’s real. But I also assume that the EU hasn’t gotten permission from their masters in Washington yet.
The problem the EU must be having is that they don’t know who they’re supposed to talk to in Washington about something like this. Like literally, who are they supposed to call?
They can’t call Joe Biden.

Is it Victoria Nuland?
Like seriously – does anyone in the EU know who they’re supposed to call to get permission from Washington to do something?
