A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a 71-year-old man in Upington.
Piet Jors appeared in the Northern Cape High Court to Piet Jors on Thursday and was handed down a life sentence for murder and 15 years for robbery.
On January 26, 2019, Mr Frederick Rademeyer was robbed of his cash, cellphone and was brutally murdered at his home in Upington.
His body was found by the gardener when he was reporting for duty that morning. His gardener then immediately informed the police.
“An extensive manhunt was launched whereby members of Upington SAPS Serious and Violent Crimes led by Lieutenant Colonel Doggie Magugu and Detective Constable Vanessa Van der Westhuizen managed to trace and arrest Jors,” a police report stated.
Jors was linked to the murder through fingerprint Identification lifted by Constable Clarence Duiker of LCRC Upington.
