I of course disagree with the comparison of Merkel to the Nazis – she is in fact the exact opposite of the Nazis, a bizarro world version of Hitler.
Still, what sort of a world are we entering into where you literally cannot say anything at all?
Ignaz Bearth insulted the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, calling her a Nazi on Facebook.
On Friday, Bearth Ignaz gave his immediate resignation as Speaker of Pegida Switzerland (Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West). He justified it by saying he is doing it for the good of the movement.

Ignaz Bearth probably acted because of a Facebook entry being reviewed by the Attorney General this week. The entry claims that it is not Pegida, but the German Chancellor and her government that are the “real Nazis in Berlin.”

Because of the Nazi allegation against Chancellor Angela Merkel and her government, Bearth is now threatened with prosecution for “insulting a foreign state.” It is punishable by imprisonment up to three years or a fine. The St. Galler prosecutor confirmed the investigation. She has forwarded the documents to the Attorney responsible for this. “At the same time we have to put a request for an acquisition process,” says Deputy Media Relations Officer Andreas Baumann.

Hurriedly, he cleaned his Facebook account. The Nazi-bashing against the German government, he has already deleted.
Also gone are Bearth’s entries on the far-right Jobbik party in Hungary. This included a photo showing him in the party shirt of the extreme right group. Posts indicated, among other things, that he believed Hitler was one of the “greatest statesmen of the 20th century.” He has also deleted a photo with the slogan “sausage kebab place.”
Oh. So I guess like the German Pegida leader, he did like Hitler, and was just using the term “Nazi” flippantly, throwing it back at them. Interesting. I keep saying these groups people accuse of being soft are a lot more hardcore behind the scenes.
Seriously though. Let’s think about this for a second. How can it possibly be against the law – punishable by up to three years in prison – to “insult a foreign government”?
