Tucker Carlson didn’t go full Fox News in his reporting on the Russian invasion of the Ukraine, but he did blame it on Putin, which is silly.
What was Putin supposed to do?
Anyway, the show was at least informative.
There was a really funny part where he brought on an Israeli Jew for some reason – I’d already seen him on Fox News – and when the Jew started begging for money and demanding his website be shown on screen, Tucker cut him off.
So, props for that.
He interviewed Tulsi Gabbard, who of course just said “war is bad.” That’s her thing.
But Tucker had pretty much already set up the narrative that Putin had been backed against a wall by the Biden Administration, and that he really didn’t have any choice. I would have liked to have seen that narrative, rather than the narrative that Putin is responsible for this war.
I guess Tucker can only push things so far, and saying “I support the invasion” would be a little bit too much.
As I’ve noted, Fox News has been actually worse than CNN in calling for aggression against Russia. They are demanding the lunatic sanctions on the Russian energy sector and the banning of Russia from SWIFT, which would totally collapse the US economy.
Actually, I also support that for different reasons.
But no one really knows what the hell they’re talking about. Tucker knows better than any of these other people, and he did point out that it would be crazy to do what the rest of Fox News is calling for and destroy the US economy over the Ukraine.
He also had on a retired general who said that Putin has allegedly offered terms of surrender to Zelensky, if he agrees to neutrality. In the last 12 hours or so since Tucker aired, we still don’t really know if Putin would be willing to actually do that, though it is being widely discussed.
I have no idea why Putin would do anything other than just completely take over the entire Ukraine, other than the most Western part, at this point. He effectively already has.
We haven’t at time of writing gotten official confirmation that Kiev has fallen. You’ll get images of Russian flags in the government buildings at some point in the next 24 hours though, certainly.
This Website’s Situation
I didn’t do a live thread today because there isn’t really any surprising developments going on. After the airports were taken out, after the entire West made it clear that they wouldn’t send aid, and after Biden refused any serious sanctions, all that you have now is the Russians cleaning up and finishing the conquest of the Ukraine.
Obviously, this could escalate and something crazy could happen, and it probably will eventually, but there is no reason to think anything crazy is going to happen in the next 24 hours or so.
I didn’t really get a lot of sleep yesterday, and I think the articles I published today give a pretty comprehensive picture of where things are at, without the need for minute-by-minute updates like yesterday. A live thread takes a lot out of a man, I’ll tell you this.
Tonight is Nick Fuentes’ AFPAC III event, which I’m going to watch and I might stream myself if we can get something set up and I am not asleep.
Also, Leo Fong’s Elden Ring stream was unfortunately canceled yesterday due to the war, and that could happen sometime this afternoon or evening – could be before or after AFPAC.
If not, it will be a weekend thing.
Leo Fong has sworn not to play the game at all until he turns on the stream, which is going to be seriously embarrassing for him and probably funny for the viewer. Though he may just surprise a few folks.
