Yesterday the Daily Express shocked the nation by revealing how a youth tried to sell a baby for £250 in Sheffield’s Page Hall district.

Now a former English teacher has told how a teenage Roma girl asked if she wanted to buy one too.

The revelation heaps pressure on South Yorkshire Police to launch a full investigation. The force refused to reveal how many “baby sale” allegations had been reported in the past 12 months unless a freedom of information request was granted.

She said the shocking incident occurred more than a year ago as thousands of Roma migrants started moving into Sheffield, which is now home to the fastest growing Roma population in the UK.
