Oh no, a teacher having sex with her students?

I never expected to see something like this.

A substitute teacher in north Alabama was arrested for allegedly engaging in a sex act with a student under 19 years old, authorities announced Friday.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about a substitute teacher possibly having “inappropriate relations” with a student, said Sheriff Nick Welden.

The investigation led to the arrest Friday of Stephanie Mechelle Woods, 45, of Henagar, the sheriff said.

Wow, so now it’s “student under 19 years old”?

That seems pretty extreme. That can only mean that the student was well within the age of consent.

How is this a criminal offense?
