Amazon to Undergo “Racial Equity” Audit Led by Loretta Lynch

This is yet another stupid hoax.

Amazon is married to the government, and there is no way the government is going to do anything to them. Furthermore, despite the fact that Loretta Lynch is a former government official, this is not a government audit. It is an “independent” audit designed to preempt a government investigation into labor abuses.

Of course, “labor abuses” aren’t even the issue anymore – it’s all about fighting the spook of “racism.”

Bloomberg:

Amazon.com Inc. said it agreed to undergo an independent racial equity audit, joining companies including Citigroup Inc. and Tyson Foods Inc. in performing such reviews.

The audit — an analysis of companies to see whether their businesses cause and perpetuate discrimination — will be led by former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, now a partner at law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, Amazon said in a proxy statement filed Thursday.

The review will measure any disparate racial impacts on Amazon’s U.S. hourly employees resulting from policies, programs and practices, the world’s largest online retailer said. The Seattle-based company said it will publish the audit’s results once completed.

New York State Common Retirement Fund and its Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, which had pressed Amazon to conduct a racial audit, said they looked forward to learning more about Amazon’s plan for a review. But they said they “remain concerned that the company has provided few details and has made no assurances that the audit will be independent.”

It’s impossible for any kind of corporate audit to be independent at this point.

But it’s dumb anyway. What on earth does race have to do with Amazon abusing its employees?

We’ve all seen this for years with Amazon. They definitely abuse their employees. But they have a totally multiracial workforce.

Do they abuse the blacks harder? I seriously doubt it. We’ve all worked with blacks, and we all know that every company cuts them a lot more slack than they give to whites. Managers just naturally expect less from blacks, so they don’t ride them as hard.

Amazon reframing the issue of labor abuses into some kind of racism gibberish is a perfect example of how all of this identity politics gibberish is being used by corporations to skirt accountability.
