Even after Joe Biden himself has flip-flopped on his plan to abolish the police as a result of absurd levels of violent crime everywhere, AOC is still pushing for it and is now attacking the Mayor of New York over plans to bring back some of the abolished police.
Left-wing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ripped Mayor Eric Adams’ public safety strategies — giving a thumbs down to Hizzoner launching a revamped NYPD anti-gun unit and other measures.
In an Instagram story Saturday, AOC delivered a scathing response to a question from a follower on her “opinion on Eric Adams’ changes in NYPD policy & funding” during a Q&A session on the social media platform.
“Cutting virtually every city agency’s budget while raising NYPD’s, bringing back the plainclothes unit notorious for misconduct and responsible for an enormous percent of all NYC police killings, torture in the form of solitary [confinement] at Rikers and destroying homeless people’s sole belongings/ shelter in the middle of winter while defunding the very shelter system they’re supposed to turn to?” Ocasio-Cortez (D-Bronx/ Queens) posted.
“It’s a no for me,” she added with a thumbs-down emoji.
AOC — a darling of the left who has advocated for lowering police budgets — also made a broader ideological argument against Adams’ moderate stances, characterizing “violence” as something more expansive than just physical acts.
“But as long as people think we can police our way out of problems that our housing, education and healthcare policies created we are going to continue having crime and violence,” the lawmaker wrote. “And by violence I don’t just mean people committing it but also system and power committing it against people.”
AOC declared, “Police budgets have NOTHING to do with crime levels.”
“Pro violent crime” might seem like a strange position to take, but remember that her audience is not the black communities experiencing the highest levels of homicide in history or the Asians that are stalked and beaten on the streets. Her audience is wealthy liberals who are still largely able to avoid the extreme violence that has taken over the streets of New York and every other major urban center in this country.
Even so: openly saying “I support violent crime” is a really wacky thing.
It’s especially wacky since she has forgotten about all of her other utopian promises.
Now all she does is support violent drug addicts and shill for Amazon’s $15 minimum wage scheme.
What ever happened to the anti-war programs of AOC?
Why did she back sanctions against Russia, after deleting tweets saying she was against them?
Does she now just support all forms of violence, regardless of their origin?
Or is she just a complete shill, who uses support for violent crime in New York as a distraction from the bigger issues the world is facing right now?
