So, I was reading the news, and hearing about the second quarter of GDP drop in the US, which means we are in a recession, officially.
JUST IN – United States is entering a recession: GDP contracted by 0.9% in Q2, the second quarter in a row.

Then I came across this BBC lede:
The US economy has shrunk for the second quarter in a row, a milestone that in many countries would be considered an economic recession.
That is not the case in the US, which uses additional data to make that call.
I started thinking: “hmmm. That’s not what I remember. I remember that the US invented this definition of ‘recession,’ which is why many countries use it.”
So, yes: it’s exactly what you’d expect: just as the Brandons have changed the definition of “men” and “women,” they’ve also changed the definition of “recession.”
Here’s a recent blog, posted ahead of the release of the numbers:
It’s a very bold move.
They’re saying it’s not the “technical definition.”
NOW – Biden economic advisor: "Two negative quarters of GDP growth is not the technical definition of recession." pic.twitter.com/UTfdl5LzuS

But government officials have always used it as the definition, and that guy there, Brian Deese, said in 2008 that it is the “technical definition.”
Despite the focus on Trump, Biden economic adviser Brian Deese is leading effort to redefine recession. GOP notes Deese said in 2008: "Of course economists have a technical definition of recession, which is two consecutive quarters of negative growth." https://t.co/rx7kTYSo65

And the media – including the above-quoted BBC – is just going along with this, pretending like we always used some other definition.
Le Mammy also said it is not the definition at all.
Doocy: "It's two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth… How is that not redefining recession?"

Even if we were to accept that it is acceptable to just change definitions like this, what “additional data” would lead one to believe we are “not in a recession”? All of the “additional data” that I can think of would make the situation look even more grim.
Whatever.
If they want to play games like this, and media believers want to act like it’s real, that’s fine with me. I don’t care what any of these people believe, and just want them to die from vaccines.
But even a lot of the loony vax and Ukraine democracy people are not getting on board with this.
Amid fears of recession, CNN’s Kasie Hunt slams the Biden administration for denying the definition of a recession:

Seeing CNN claim that “words have meanings” is really wacky.
Biden is already under the bus. They are just going to keep using him to do all of this super unpopular stuff that everyone hates, and then rebrand for 2024, presumably with Gavin Newsom.
