UPDATE:

Presently, the sites appear to be back up and it is possible they only went down due to increased traffic, or perhaps a moment of panic. We will wait for the CofCC to make a statement.

Apparently in reaction to the emergence of Dylann Storm Roof’s alleged manifesto, the Council of Conservative Citizens has dismantled their entire website.

The domains linked to the Council of Conservative Citizens—CofCC.org, TopConservativeNews.com and Conservative-Headlines.com—all lead to a blank white screen.

Moreover, Kyle Rogers, a key figure in the CofCC and its webmaster, ostensibly deleted his personal Twitter account. Though the CofCC’s account still remains—for now.

In his manifesto Roof credited the CofCC with awakening him on the issue of Black on White crime:

The event that truly awakened me was the Trayvon Martin case. I kept hearing and seeing his name, and eventually I decided to look him up. I read the Wikipedia article and right away I was unable to understand what the big deal was. It was obvious that Zimmerman was in the right. But more importantly this prompted me to type in the words “black on White crime” into Google, and I have never been the same since that day. The first website I came to was the Council of Conservative Citizens. There were pages upon pages of these brutal black on White murders. I was in disbelief. At this moment I realized that something was very wrong. How could the news be blowing up the Trayvon Martin case while hundreds of these black on White murders got ignored?

A few posts appeared on the CofCC over the past couple of days vis-à-vis the Charleston shooting, including a statement; some information about Roof’s drug use and suspicious behavior at a Columbia, SC mall; and details from his closest friends, namely that Roof told them he would eventually carry out an attack.

An odd situation for sure. Does the CofCC fear legal trouble? We will continue to look out for further developments and update this post if necessary.
