Texas prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for a professional MMA fighter known as the ‘Spider-Man’ after he allegedly killed and buried two people in shallow graves.
The Bell County District Attorney’s Office has filed formal notice to seek the death penalty against Cedric Marks, 45, on Monday.
He is accused of slaying ex-girlfriend Jenna Scott, 28, and her friend Michael Swearingin, 32, at a residence in Killeen, Texas on January 3.
Their bodies were discovered less than two weeks later more than 350 miles away in shallow graves in rural Clearview, Oklahoma.
Marks pleaded ‘absolutely not guilty’ to the capital murder and remains in custody with a $1.7million bond.
His girlfriend, Maya Maxwell, 26, also faces charges after she admitted to being present when the victims were killed and also when they were buried, according to an affidavit.

A pretrial hearing is set for Marks on August 29 and another for Maxwell the following day.
She faces charges in connection with the double murder including tampering with evidence, KWTX reported.
Maxwell gave birth to a baby boy while in jail, who is now being taken care of by social services.
