In addition to down-ranking sites associated with disinformation, we also often place news modules and information boxes at the top of DuckDuckGo search results (where they are seen and clicked the most) to highlight quality information for rapidly unfolding topics.

The Jewish head of DuckDuckGo, Gabriel Weinberg, has said that he’s going to begin manipulating search results to push pro-Ukraine Western propaganda.
The Jew goes even further than that, and says that actually, manipulating search results is compatible with DuckDuckGo’s purpose.
DuckDuckGo’s mission is to make simple privacy protection accessible to all. Privacy is a human right and transcends politics, which is why about 100 million people around the world use DuckDuckGo. (We don’t have an exact count since we don’t track people.)

Yeah, okay.
Privacy is the main advertised mission, but it’s also been viewed and assumed to have a less manipulated algorithm.

Of course, there are going to be problems with any search engine, because Google dominates the market. That means Google can increase traffic to certain websites, which then means that they will rank higher on other searches, because part of the way any search engine ranks is based on traffic.
I’m hopeful about Brave’s search. They turned out the best browser ever. But the last time I checked their search engine – which was maybe six weeks ago – it was basically just returning the same results as Google.
It’s really complicated to have a working search engine, when Google is sabotaging information. It’s so sad what happened to Google. It really was the greatest invention of all time, and they just totally rekt it.
People will say “Yandex.”
Okay, well, that is totally as separate from the Google algorithm as possible, but also, half your results are going to be Russian language.
We just want a freaking search engine! Not your damn opinion!

The search for an neutral, unbiased search engine dedicated to providing access to all info remains ongoing, it appears. This is sad, @yegg

Your neutrality was your value. Now you became but Google 2, the poorer version of the same wokism.

placing “news modules” at the top means placing disinformation at the top.

You realise NOT doing that was the ONLY reason 90% your user base used the product, right?

You just tanked your whole brand

Bad move. I don’t need mommy anymore. I’m a grownup; treat me as such or lose my business.

Even if your feelings are correct, by self-appointing yourself to judge what is and what is not “misinformation “ you lose all credibility.

stop trying to control the narrative – if we wanted a search engine that does that we would use Google.

I started using DDG after @joerogan said he could find information that Google was hiding. Now you’re going to hide information, too?

Please explain, in detail, how you decide what is and isn’t quality information. Who is involved? What are their qualifications and experience? What criteria, rules and procedures do they use? Who verifies this, and how?
