EU Condemns Musk, Claims Absolute Ability to Arbitrate Reality Itself

It’s really hard to even process the fact that an idea so cartoonish as “the government is capable of determining absolute truth and reality” is now being widely accepted under a term so inane as “fighting disinformation.”

The only body previously ever possessing this capacity in history was the Catholic Church, and they only determined the nature of metaphysical truth. Even when the Church went into politics, it did not do so with the claim of the ability to determine absolute “political truth.”

What that means is that the Western governmental claim that it can objectively arbitrate all of reality is unprecedented in human history. That is an incredible fact in and of itself, but the fact that this monumental, ultimate power has just been slipped in without much comment over a period of a few short years boggles the mind.

RT:

European Commissioner Thierry Breton threatened Twitter CEO Elon Musk with “enforcement” in a tweet on Friday after Musk announced he was pulling Twitter out of the EU’s voluntary Code of Practice on Disinformation, warning he was not getting away so easily.

Confirming Twitter had left the anti-disinformation body, Breton, who has responsibility for the EU’s internal market, tweeted, “You can run but you can’t hide,” promising “our teams will be ready for enforcement.”

“Beyond voluntary commitments, fighting disinformation will be legal obligation under [the Digital Service Act] as of August 25,” the official reminded Musk, referring to incoming legislation that will require Twitter and seven other social media platforms to “fight disinformation” in the EU or face massive fines as high as 6% of the company’s annual revenue.

Twitter joined the CPD in 2018 under former CEO Jack Dorsey. The DSA incorporates the (voluntary) Code of Practice into a mandatory code of conduct for very large online platforms, arguing they must take responsibility for keeping the internet safe for democracy or face ruinous financial consequences. Twitter has three months to comply with its obligations.

“Keeping the internet safe for democracy” is yet another psyche-crushing euphemism.

Just try to imagine the nerve of these people.

(We don’t really have to imagine. We know the face of “the nerve of these people.”)

Their first big foray into “fighting disinformation” was the coronavirus “pandemic,” something which they now admit they were completely wrong about in basically every possible way anyone could ever be wrong about anything.

Under their own “disinformation” rules, things they said in 2020 would be banned now, and things they are saying now would have been banned in 2020.

Just try to imagine it.

It’s astonishing on the level of Space Baby.

I was banned for literally no reason, as was Nick Fuentes.

Elon simply claiming that the government doesn’t have the ability to dictate reality itself is hardly heroic, and it is frustrating that he keeps saying he has freedom of speech when he actually doesn’t.

I will say: it is better than it was. But that really isn’t saying a lot.
