The man accused of stabbing and seriously injuring a Rochester police officer last month has been indicted by a Monroe County grand jury.
Keith Williams, 28, of Rochester is facing the following felony charges: attempted aggravated murder, attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault of a police officer and first-degree assault.
Williams is accused of stabbing Rochester Police Officer Dennison “Denny” Wright, a 23-year department veteran who was responding to a domestic incident call at Williams’ Peck Street home on Oct. 4.
According to court records, Williams allegedly stabbed Wright “multiple times upon his face, left eye and lower body, causing serious physical injuries (that) were deemed to be life threatening.”

Wright suffered serious injuries to his face and was treated in the intensive care unit at Rochester General Hospital before being transferred to the rehab unit. He was discharged on Oct. 25, three weeks after he was stabbed.
Wright has spent his entire career as a patrol officer in the city’s Clinton Section in northeast Rochester, Investigator Jackie Shuman said last month. Wright also is a field training officer and has trained many RPD recruits from the police academy, she said.
Chief La’Ron Singletary said Wright is well-known in the community. He would frequently read to students at School 8.
Wright had responded to 37 Peck St. for a domestic disturbance call shortly before 12:30 p.m. Williams allegedly was hiding under a bed when the officer arrived, but then got up and tried to run out, according to police. The stabbing occurred when Wright attempted to stop Williams.
Williams was arraigned on charges of attempted aggravated murder and aggravated assault of a police officer, both felonies, on Oct. 8 in City Court and was remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail.
