Germany Vows $3 Billion More to the Ukraine Ahead of Zelensky Visit

German tanks rolling into Russia in the name of defending democracy against fascism is… ironic?

Zelensky is on a world tour which started immediately after the drone attack on the Kremlin.

There is some speculation that he fears getting killed if he returns to the Ukraine. Maybe there is something to that, I have no idea.

I do know that he hasn’t set a date to return to the Ukraine, and also that his tour seems to be extremely profitable.

AP:

Germany will provide Ukraine with additional military aid worth more than 2.7 billion euros ($3 billion), including tanks, anti-aircraft systems and ammunition, the government said Saturday.

The announcement came on the eve of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s first visit to Germany since Russia invaded his country last year.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Berlin wanted to show with the latest package of arms “that Germany is serious in its support” for Ukraine.

“Germany will provide all the help it can, as long as it takes,” he said.

Zelenskyy’s expected weekend visit — still not publicly confirmed by German officials for security reasons — is regarded in Berlin as a sign that relations between Ukraine and Germany have improved markedly after a rocky patch.

The German government’s position is in stark contrast to the opinions of the German public, a majority of which wants to end the war, rather than follow the US doctrine of “as long as it takes” endless war and death.

However, because Germany is a democracy, the opinion of the public carries no weight.

We will be watching to see if Zelensky returns to his post.

There remains no explanation as to why, if he is no longer in a warzone, he is continuing to refuse to put on a shirt.

Speculation swirls as to why ostensibly serious governments continue to entertain this ratlike little man in a t-shirt as if he is a serious person, as he demands endless death and destruction in the name of defending the arbitrary 1991 borders of a fake country.
