After the absolutely glorious Independence Day celebration that Donald Trump arranged, he’s been coming out with a barrage of great statements, contradicting his previous positions on a bunch of things.
Is it possible that his own event inspired him to come to Jesus?
The census question is back on the menu.
BBC:
The Trump administration will continue to pursue a way of adding a citizenship question to the census, lawyers said in court filings submitted on Friday.
But administration lawyers failed to provide any legal justification for the census question by a court deadline.
The Supreme Court rejected the initial rationale for adding the question to the 2020 census as “contrived”.
The question is controversial because critics believe it will discourage immigrants from taking part.
Immigration raids are coming soon.
President Donald Trump said on Friday mass deportation roundups would begin “fairly soon” as U.S. migrant advocates vowed their communities would be “ready” when immigration officers come.
Trump, who has made a hardline immigration stance a key issue of his presidency and 2020 re-election bid, postponed the operation last month after the date was leaked, but on Monday he said it would take place after July 4.
“They’ll be starting fairly soon, but I don’t call them raids, we’re removing people, all of these people who have come in over the years illegally,” he told reporters at the White House on Friday.
We’re getting an executive order on pharmaceutical price fixing.
President Trump said Friday that the White House was writing an executive order to require pharmaceutical companies to offer the United States government among the lowest prices in the world, in comments that were not immediately clear to many experts on the country’s health care system.
“We’re working on a favored-nation clause, where we pay whatever the lowest nation’s price is,” Mr. Trump said to reportersFriday, specifying that an “executive order” was in the works. “Why should other nations like Canada — why should other nations pay much less than us? They’ve taken advantage of the system for a long time, pharma.”
It was all said in a press conference, with the people standing behind him.
It did appear that this was the man we elected.
However… we’ve had these “Trump’s back” moments before.
And my position is the same as it has been since shit went completely off the rails: as long as Jared Kushner is in the White House, nothing can be fixed.
So these are a lot of nice words. I like these words. But until Kushner is gone, I do not believe they will manifest in reality.
