Ireland Will Massively Reduce Payouts to Refugees Following Riots

Dublin, a few weeks before the announcement of a drastic policy reversal on immigration

Well, infinity minus 1 is less than infinity, but it’s still a pretty good deal.

Free money is always a good deal.

The Irish government is set to drastically reduce welfare payments to future Ukrainian refugees, in a move designed to signal that the EU country has reached its limit of the numbers of asylum seekers it can accept from Kiev, the Irish Times reported on Monday, citing government sources.

The proposal from Dublin’s Minister for Integration Roderic O’Gorman includes reducing welfare payments for Ukrainians from €220 ($236) per week to just €38.50 ($41) – the same weekly sum currently being offered to asylum seekers of other nationalities.

The move was set to be signed off on by senior government figures on Monday evening before being discussed by the full cabinet on Tuesday. The Irish Times also reported that government sources said the plans are likely to be agreed.

You know that Ireland has this money for the refugees from their tax swindles, and they can make sure the Irish, traditionally the most rebellious and most conservative people in Western Europe, are buried.

But hey – it’s a big reduction. They were all coming for that money.

It’s almost like rioting works better than voting.
