It turned out that the Russian bombing of a maternity ward and theatre in Mariupol were hoaxes, the “Bucha massacre” was a hoax, and the bombing of the Donetsk train station was a hoax.
You know what’s not a hoax?
Russians breaking into a Central African Republic maternity ward and raping newborn mothers.
You know what else is definitely not a hoax?
This latest story about Russians bombing a school.
It was a Russian school even – in Luhansk!
CNBC:
Dozens are feared dead after reports that a school in the Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine has been hit by Russian shelling.
Luhansk is one of the two regions that make up the Donbas, where Russian troops are now concentrating their efforts.
Meanwhile, the last women, children and elderly people have been evacuated from the Azovstal steel plant, the final holdout for Ukrainians in the besieged port city of Mariupol, according to Ukraine’s deputy prime minister.
“This part of the Mariupol humanitarian operation is over,” Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk wrote on the Telegram messaging app. Preparations are now underway to get the wounded and doctors out of the plant.
Now, obviously, we all know that over the next few days, information will trickle out demonstrating that this attack was actually carried out by the Ukrainians, or that there were no children in it and it was being used as a base by Ukrainian soldiers – and it will then completely disappear from the media, just like the Mariupol maternity ward/theatre, Bucha, and Donetsk train station stories.
So what we all need to do is believe this really hard right now – because our window of believing it is short.
In order to believe this kind of brainless deception, having repeatedly seen this same hoax disproved over and over again, you have to really commit yourself – you have to put your whole heart into believing an inane hoax.
If you truly believe in our values in a democracy, it is your duty.
