The Jews claimed if Donald Trump got elected the first time, it would create some kind of hell on earth. Needless to say, Trump didn’t do anything to change anyone’s life really at all, and the people causing all kinds of problems – riots, flu hoaxes, etc. – have all been from the left.
But they’re doing the same thing again this time, claiming that democracy is in peril.
In a column entitled, “What Will You Do if Trump Doesn’t Leave?,” Jewish columnist David Brooks is calling for people to prepare to do something if Trump is reelected. It’s not clear what he wants them to do, exactly, but he’s suggesting some sort of uprising to implement a forcible dispossession of white men, who will be forced to hand their country over to brown people.
He lays out a scenario in which Trump declares victory on election night, because the people who went to the polls voted for him. He says that the majority of Biden voters will be voting by mail, and that those won’t be immediately available for a long time after the actual election, but that they will prove Biden won. Trump won’t accept the mail-ins, and will call it fraud.
Then, the people will go out into the streets.
He writes:
A certain kind of Republican takes to the streets to enforce Trump’s version of events. According to research done by Larry Bartels of Vanderbilt, 50 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents believe “the traditional American way of life is disappearing so fast that we may have to use force to save it.” Nearly as many believe, “A time will come when patriotic Americans have to take the law into their own hands.”
The left is in the streets, too. On the fringe of the left there are those who want to overthrow the racist, cisgendered, patriarchal neoliberal oligarchy. This is their chance at mayhem, too, and they seize it with sometimes violent passion.
But a new force looms into view. For the whole Trump era a certain sort of conservative has been cowering from the Trump onslaught. Certain sorts of moderates and liberals have also been keeping their heads down, so they won’t get bitten off by the woke mobs. But now the very existence of the Republic is at stake.
It turns out, amid the existential crisis, there really is a group of sober people who are militant about America, who can see reality unblinkered by the lens of partisanship, and who are finally compelled to organize.
They understand that, like so many American tragedies, this is largely about race. It’s about the transition from a certain kind of white-dominated America to a diverse America — and the people who will do anything to stop it.
No, there are no sober adults in the room. That’s an absurd claim. It’s just us. It’s just Trump people, then a bunch of lunatic leftists.
In the type of situation he’s talking about, it will depend on where the cops and the military stand. If the military sides with the left, they’ll be able to overthrow the president.
Brooks goes on to give instructions. He says it will need to be like Belarus, with sustained street action, but implies that if the people who are opposing Trump are a violent mob that openly hates America, they’re going to have a difficult time getting the support of the masses of people.
It is virtually impossible to imagine that the mobs opposing Trump following the election are going to be any different than the mobs opposing him now – that is to say, radical, violent communists who hate America.
If Trump claims a victory that is not rightly his, a few marches in the streets will not be an adequate response. There may have to be a sustained campaign of civic action, as in Hong Kong and Belarus, to rally the majority that wants to preserve democracy, that isolates those who would undo it.
Two themes would have to feature in such civic action. The first is ardent patriotism. The country survives such a crisis only if most people’s love of nation overwhelms the partisan fury that will threaten to envelop us.
The second is the preservation of constitutional order. Through epic acts of self-discipline, the nonviolent civil rights marchers in the 1960s forced their foes to reveal that if there were to be any violence and anarchy, it would come from the foes. That’s how the movement captured the moral high ground and won the mind of the nation.
The process of mobilizing for an accurate election outcome, before it is too late, would be a struggle to preserve the order of our civic structure against the myriad foes who talk blithely about tearing down systems, disorder and disruption. It may be how we rediscover our nation again.
The scenario he lays out is almost certain to happen – Trump will win on election night, he will claim victory, and then mail-in ballots will call that victory into question.
People will go out into the streets.
But his idea that these will be normal people is absurd. It is going to be the same violent lunatics we see now, burning American flags and talking about killing white people. If there actually are any normal people who oppose Trump – and there is no actual evidence of that that I’ve seen – those people will be chased off by the lunatics. Normal people are not going to feel comfortable in this environment, and they will also be attacked by blacks and others.
Whatever happens, we are looking at an absolute nightmare scenario. It is going to be like nothing you can currently imagine.
Right now, it’s very unlikely Trump will lose the election. The left knows that. The media is getting revved up to claim that Trump stole the election, they’re getting ready for a sustained campaign against him.
You need to think about how you’re going to deal with it.
