I do not ever make hard predictions for future events, because I find that this is a way of gambling with your own credibility, and I am against gambling. In 2019, however, I did violate this principle and say that I thought Kamala Harris was going to be the Democratic nominee.
Now, it is looking like I may have been right after all.
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has kept quiet on who he is going to announce to be his running mate next week, but a mistaken report by Politico and a photo of his notes captured by an Associated Press (AP) photographer Tuesday has many suspecting his top candidate for the job is Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.
“Joe Biden chose Kamala Harris to become his running mate for the 2020 election on Aug. 1, two weeks before the Democratic National Convention, after keeping his choice close to the chest for months,” Politico wrote.
Though the publication removed the story and issued an apology, saying to Fox News Tuesday night that they regretted the “error and any confusion that is caused,” an AP story released a story the same evening that told a similar story.
It’s not August 1 yet. I just checked the calendar.

The idea that the media writes up reports in advance because they already know what is going to happen is pretty scary, and speaks to the idea that we are living in a totally scripted reality, something I’ve been arguing a lot lately. But even I wouldn’t have expected this.
A photographer grabbed a shot of Biden’s handwritten notes with a section titled “Kamala Harris,” which was followed by a list of attributes.
“Do not hold grudges.” “Campaigned with me & Jill.” “Talented.” “Great help to campaign.” “Great respect for her.”
Harris, a presidential candidate before dropping out in 2019, has endorsed and campaigned for Biden since March. But she once was one of his most ardent opponents on the campaign trail, criticizing his stance on busing for school integration in the 1970s.
“Do you agree today that you were wrong to oppose busing in America?” Harris asked Biden on a debate stage in Miami in June 2019.
Biden, the vice president to Barack Obama, the first Black president in U.S. history, angrily said her comments were “a mischaracterization” of his position.
Right now, Biden’s biggest strength is that he is non-threatening. He is a feeble old man, and that stands in strong contrast to what many view as a violent and terroristic Democrat agenda.
Biden has vowed to choose a black woman as a running mate, and whoever he chooses is going to be a lot more scary than he is, so I think whoever he picks will hurt him. That’s a good thing.
Biden is not going to make it through his entire first term. He is much too old, and he is not stable health-wise. He would be lucky to make it through his first year. So people are going to be voting for the running mate, not him.
Kamala Harris is a frightening person. She embodies the “angry black woman” trope perfectly, without actually even being black (she personally identifies with her Indian mother).
I hope he picks her, and not just because it will have proved my prediction correct. I believe that she will make people a lot less passive in their analysis of what a vote for Biden means for the future of this country.
