Julian Assange had been charged with “rape” in Sweden for not using a condom with a girl who allegedly thought he was using a condom.

Sweden was requesting his extradition.

Now they’re not.

This is very bad.

BBC:

Prosecutors in Sweden have dropped an investigation into a rape allegation made against Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange in 2010.

Assange, who denies the accusation, has avoided extradition to Sweden for seven years after seeking refuge at the Ecuadorean embassy in London in 2012.

The 48-year-old Australian was evicted in April and sentenced to 50 weeks in jail for breaching his bail conditions.

He is currently being held at Belmarsh prison in London.

The Swedish investigation had been shelved in 2017 but was re-opened earlier this year following his eviction from the embassy.

Separately, the US is seeking Assange’s extradition from the UK over his alleged role in the release of classified military and diplomatic material by Wikileaks in 2010.

The UK is a puppet state of the US, more or less. But they also have a lot of Assange supporters, and probably don’t really want to deport him to be sent to prison for life on fake charges in the US.

When Sweden was requesting extradition, that would have given the UK government a way out. They could just send him there, he’d do his 10 months or whatever the sentence is for “rape by making a woman think you’re wearing a condom when you’re not,” and when he got out, Sweden, much more on the “human rights and journalistic freedoms etc.” train than the UK, would refuse US extradition and let him go to Russia.

Now, the UK basically has no choice but to send him to the US.

It is bloody disgusting that Donald Trump is allowing this to happen to someone who supported him.
