A veteran elementary school teacher has been accused of severely mistreating one of her students by making him eat his own feces in Texas.
Mamie Robson Aplon, 67, a kindergarten teacher at Few Primary School in Jasper, was arrested after being indicted on a misdemeanor charge of ‘official suppression’ last week.
Prosecutors say Aplon subjected the child – whose age is not known – to significant mistreatment on September 25, causing him to ‘eat his own feces’.
In a statement, Jasper Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Steve Hyden said the allegations were reported on the same day as the alleged incident and Aplon was placed on immediate leave.
‘The district has cooperated fully during the investigation of this matter and will continue to do so,’ Hyden continued to 12 News.
‘As this is a sensitive student and personnel matter, the district cannot provide further details about the incident. However, the issue of the safety and well-being of Jasper students is out top priority.’
Aplon was indicted by a Jasper County grand jury on October 31.
The indictment says Aplon intentionally subjected the victim, identified as ‘E.J.’, to mistreatment that she ‘knew was unlawful, namely causing E.J. to eat his own feces,’ while she was ‘acting under the color of her employment as an educator.’
Aplon, the daughter of former Jasper Mayor R.C Horn, was arraigned by County Judge Mark Allen on Friday and her bond was set at $10,000.
She is still listed as a teacher on the Few Primary School’s website.
On social media, friends and colleagues of Aplon have jumped to the veteran educator’s defense, painting her as a compassionate teacher who ‘loves all of her students’.
Maybe she didn’t love the one she forced to eat his own feces though.
Or maybe she did.
Her project of feeding students that summer, huh?
So she’s been thinking about “feeding” students for some time.
